Conducted on the first Friday after your initial visit (in-person or virtual).
Your GP will explain all test results and discuss symptoms such as fatigue, recurrent infections, or enlarged spleen, and advise if further imaging or referral is needed.
A broad baseline screen covering:
- Haematology: Full Blood Count (FBC), ESR
(Assesses anaemia, infection, inflammation – vital for spleen function evaluation) - Biochemistry (13 markers):
Urea & Electrolytes: Sodium, Potassium, Bicarbonate, Chloride, Urea, Creatinine, eGFR
Liver Function: Bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP, Albumin, Total Protein
Highly sensitive marker for acute inflammation or infection.
Helps detect immune or inflammatory activity involving the spleen or lymphatic system.
Screens for past or current infection with EBV.
EBV is a common cause of splenomegaly, fatigue, and immune disturbance.
The spleen is key in immune response, red blood cell filtration, and fighting infections.
Viral infections (like Epstein-Barr) or chronic inflammation can lead to spleen enlargement or dysfunction.
This package provides a strong starting point for identifying hidden infections or inflammation affecting the spleen.
